The premises now known as The Compass Bar has been in the Gallagher family for over eighty years. Once upon a time it was the local hardware, petrol station, shop, post office and pub. Today, The Compass, in which the public house is now located was opened in 1974. It has recently undergone renovations and is the centre of the local community. Open from 4pm Monday to Saturday and from 12:30 on Sunday afternoons it is always worthy of a visit as it is frequented by both locals and tourists. At the weekend it hosts local parties, darts tournaments and many card games. THE spot to watch your favourite team in action and the atmosphere is always special on Mayo GAA and Ireland rugby days
Although, this website is primarily dedicated to the pub, we will have local community updates on the community notice board (see side menu)
There are magnificent views of Clew Bay, Clare Island and Achill Beg and the locals will always keep you up to date with all the local news and events.
